Happy New Year!

Happy New Year!

We celebrated New Year's Eve at home this year!  We made a balloon garland and popped a balloon each hour.  We set off fireworks numerous times throughout the evening.  The kids' cousins, Rylen and Willow, came over.  We had nachos for dinner and then roasted s'mores outside.  James went to bed at his regular time, but Eden, Ila, Rylen and Willow ran and played and managed to stay up until midnight!  I guessed 9:00 for Ila, but she made it!

On New Year's Day, friends came over, and Dustin made his annual prime rib, black eyed peas, greens, and lobster macaroni.  Those two days - New Year's Eve spent with my husband and kids and niece and nephew, and New Year's Day spent with some of our closest friends - made me feel like the luckiest girl in the world!  I love our little life, and I thank God for it every day.

Eden and Ila went back to school this morning.  I wasn't ready to get back to reality.  We were having fun sleeping in each morning, playing with all their new stuff from Christmas, watching lots of movies.  The alarm was cruel when it went off this morning.

the color of this photo is just terrible!  why so brown?

The second semester of school always makes me panicky.  I start to freak out about how quickly life is going, that there are more school days from this year behind us than in front of us, that 3rd grade and kindergarten are quickly approaching, that we will have to leave our beloved teachers!  They were happy to go see their friends again, but Ila even said this morning, "Staying home is more fun.  Then you can do anything you want except for make a mess."  haha!

I didn't ask James any questions since he's too young to understand most of them still, BUT I will say that his favorite thing EVER is Toy Story.  He is obsessed with Woody and Buzz, and that's all he talks about, plays with, watches on TV, and he wears his Buzz or Woody costume or sweatshirts every single day, and when I try and get him to wear something that isn't Buzz or Woody related, he flips out!

I can't wait to see what this year brings for us!
