Christ has arisen, He sets us free;
Alleluia, to Him praises be.
Jesus is living! Let us all sing;
He reigns triumphant, Heavenly King.
I love Easter. I can never decide which one I like more... Easter or Christmas? It's such a hard decision! If you ask me on Christmas, I'll probably say Christmas. If you ask me on Easter, I'll probably say Easter. On all the other days of the year, I'm just confused about it! Easter does have the added bonus of (usually) gorgeous weather though! (Although I have experienced a few Christmases here in Texas with the same 80 degree temperatures.)
Eden and I started the Easter weekend early by hitting up the Faith Academy Easter parties on Thursday afternoon. It was great to see all the kids again. It was great seeing all the kids go crazy over Eden again. She was even given her first candy-filled Easter eggs from a couple of the kids. (I ate the candy... Sorry, Eden!)
On Friday, Dustin and I had a date day! It was our first little date since Eden was born. My Granny watched Eden while Dustin and I went to go see a movie and eat crawfish. And I just have to take a moment here to comment on the deliciousness of my movie snacks... The past three times that I've gone to see a movie I had gestational diabetes. And Dustin would sit right next to me and eat popcorn and drink icees RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME! HOW RUDE! But yesterday was heaven as I sat there shoveling buttery popcorn and m&ms into my mouth... at the same time! We had a wonderful time even though I never stopped thinking about my Baby Girl. I missed her so much!
Dustin left early Saturday morning for Georgia to go to the Masters. The weather was absolutely perfect here on Saturday. Warm and sunny with a light breeze. Bliss. I spent the morning packing because we spent the night with my grandma in Katy on Saturday night.
Ok, I have to take another moment here to comment on how different packing has become since a baby came into the picture. I used to be the lightest packer EVER! It is something that my dad drilled into my head starting at a young age... Pack light, pack light, pack light! My family once went to Italy for 10 days, and we were only each allowed one backpack for the whole trip! Pack light, pack light, pack light and you NEVER check luggage! For two reasons: 1. The airline could (gasp!) lose it! 2. It takes forever to stand around waiting for your stupid bag to come off the plane when you could already be sightseeing and exploring! I took these lessons to heart. And everywhere I went, I PACKED LIGHT. When Dustin came along, I started drilling it into his head as well! In the beginning of our relationship, I would stand over him screaming like a drill sergeant as he put things into his suitcase: "ARE YOU INSANE? YOU DON'T NEED THAT! PACK LIGHT, PACK LIGHT, PACK LIGHT!" And then Baby Eden came along. I have gone overnight with her twice now - last weekend when we went to my mom's and then on Saturday. It now requires that I pack up my entire house. I bring everything... things I don't need but feel like I should take JUST IN CASE! The back of my car and every seat was loaded down with bags and clothes and diapers and blankets. Little Eden was in her little carseat just surrounded by STUFF!
Anyways! Before heading to Katy, we stopped by my dad and Susie's house. We sat out in the gorgeous weather eating porkchops and watching the Masters on TV. (Correction: My dad watched the Masters on TV. I cannot think of anything more boring than watching golf on TV!)
Then Eden and I went to Katy, and I transferred all the contents of my house to my grandma's house.
My mom also came to Katy for Easter, and we woke up bright and early on Sunday morning and headed to church. I absolutely love my grandma's church. It's beautiful, the choir is amazing and the sermons are always wonderful. This was my first time to go to her church on Easter so I was super excited! And I was super excited about Eden's first Easter dress! My dad and Susie went to Paris a few months ago, and they came back with two absolutely gorgeous little dresses for Eden. One of them became her Easter dress! She was the best dressed person in church all decked out in her Roberto Cavalli creation!
Yep, that's drool all over the top of her dress in that first picture! :) I was just thrilled that she didn't throw up on it! When I got back home yesterday, I put the dress back on it's hanger and hung it back up in her closet. It's too pretty and special to pack up with the rest of her clothes when the time comes, so it'll probably hang in her closet all the days of my life - her first little Easter dress.
Church was also special (you know, besides Jesus rising from the dead and all) because we had 4 generations there.
I realllly wish I wasn't holding Eden where you see her diaper like that! Oh well! My grandma is in such good health that we just may have a 5 generation picture one day!
After church we went back to my grandma's house where I gave Eden her first little Easter basket.
She only liked her Easter basket when there was a pacifier in her mouth! Haha! Dustin and I bought her a personalized Easter basket from Pottery Barn Kids (she's ready to find those Easter eggs next year!), a stuffed chick, Peter Rabbit books, and a onesie with a rabbit on it to wear after church. See:
The four of us ate Easter lunch at Babin's, and then we went back to my grandma's again where I... took more pictures of Eden! I spend approximately fifty percent of my life photographing my child!
Like my jeans? I do! I knew colored jeans were "in" right now... but I didn't care much until I saw a picture of Kate Middleton wearing coral colored jeans. Then I was all over that like white on rice! I adore Kate Middleton! (In my dreams, she and Prince William have a son, and Eden marries him and becomes Princess of England, and I get to live in a castle because I'm her mom and stuff!) Anyways, I love my jeans, but I have a feeling this is gonna be one of those things where Eden looks at these pictures 15 years from now and says, "MOM! What the heck are you wearing?! Orange jeans? Really?!"
Sunday afternoon, my cousin Emilie and her husband Trent stopped by my grandma's, and it was great seeing them and catching up! Eden and I said adios to everyone after a couple of hours and then headed back home to see my Granny and Pops and Harold and Robin and Mason and Cameron. Eden was given more Easter presents including these sunglasses:
I guess she has a little more growing to do!
It was a fabulous, wonderful weekend! But I think it wore Eden out! She slept last night from 8:30 until 5 this morning! That's the longest she's ever slept! And I have to admit that after not seeing her for a few hours on Friday, and then sharing her with everybody on Saturday and Sunday, I'm really looking forward to spending all day today just me and her! She's allllll mine, and I'm allllll hers! :)
And we're both really looking forward to Daddy coming home tonight! Yay!
